Founded in 1852, Union Baptist Church remains committed to sharing the good news of the Gospel, not only by the preaching and teaching of the Word, but by trying to live the Gospel as a Servant Church, following divine edicts to create the beloved community.

Our mission finds tangible expression in ministries designed to transform broken lives and to empower the historic, but under-resourced, urban neighborhood where God has given us residence. For over forty years we were guided in our mission by the Reverend Vernon N. Dobson. Recently called as the Shepherd of this flock was the Reverend Alvin C. Hathaway.
